ZOMG

the agony....
In the middle of the race, still smiling!

wow, it still freaking hurts. My thighs feel like they've been beaten with stockings full of oranges. My back, my arms, my knees, my neck, hell, even my right ear hurts(I smashed it into an obstacle trying to hang on.) I have bruises everywhere, and I keep finding new ones. My right knee looks awful, it keeps changing colors...I feel like a chameleon.

I can't decide if it's bravery or the fact that I'm a glutton for punishment that makes me want to do this again next year. I'm actually recruiting new team members for next year. In addition to the three ladies from the team this year, I've got my little bro and a friend from high school who are going to join the team next year. I am going to fund-raise all year and make it super easy when the time for registration comes around. Also, I'm something of a nerd, so I'll be working out some cool stuff for the post-race party. Like maybe mud-pie, mudslides and some sort of crafty surprise.

After lamenting my lack of goal moving forward I have made up my mind for a new goal. It's a long term goal, not easily met right away, but a good one. I want to run in a marathon on or around my thirtieth birthday. That gives me two years to practice and train. My plan is to find a half marathon to do first. For the next year, I'm going to run in an event at least once a month. So far I've only got one planned, a friend from high school and I are going to run a 5K together in July (Jebus, running in Missouri in July? I think I'm a bit soft in the head.) I need to set one up for June, I'm going to try to find a pavement based 10K.

Alright, back to work, I'm so swamped.

WOW, you sounded like you had a great time, bruises and all. I am so proud of you for getting out there and doing and then even going to do it again. That is awesome.
Good luck with your training. I know you can do this.
Take care and have a blessed afternoon.

yikes, a marathon! I'm even scared of that!
I think I mentioned this but there is a 5k at the zoo on Sun 5/22. There is also the Komen Race for the cure on 6/11. And there was a 10k advertised in our MS Society info for 7/2 (it's in Kirkwood!)
and as for half marathons, there is a Rock N Roll half this October, I think it's in St Charles, and then also every April the GO!St Louis people put on a marathon/half marathon/marathon relay event. I ran the relay last year.
Plus there are tons more 5k and 10k events. I apparently know too much about this.
