Monday, Monday

It's been an unusually cool and awesome Monday morning here in Saint Chuck. I woke up after sleeping for 8 full hours, which came on the heels of a three hour nap last night (mad props to Jeeves, he was "all get some sleep you beautiful pregnant lady") and the weather outside was amazing. It was sunny and cool and the breeze was blowing lightly, so pretty. Made me wish my porch swing was put together and not in pieces behind the house. If I hadn't needed to go and get my car at the shop I might have decided to walk to work, maybe. So I go to get the Ninja wagon and get the great news that the fix for the crazy rattling noise was only 90 bucks (SCORE!!!).

The weekend was lovely and I'll be doing a post about it as soon as I get the pictures off of Mutti's camera. I hope to get that done tonight. We had so much fun and it was everything I had hoped it would be, relaxing and being with my family just filled up my heart, I enjoyed being able to spend so much time with them.

After my weekend of gluttony (oh! The Sausage Gravy!) I'm back on track today with a skinny latte and two servings of grapes for breakfast and some lean protein with tons of veggies for lunch. I think I'm going to swing by the IGA and get Chick peas to make some humus for my carrot sticks this week, gotta love that good healthy fat!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's Post, a Week 12 update! More creepy baby fruit references. Also there's a new ticker at the bottom of the blog which had some smart ass things about pregnancy. pretty funny.

6 Degrees of Turkey Bacon

Well, more like 375 degrees, with Swiss cheese, wrapped around chicken breasts. Served with a pseudo carbonara over fettuccine. My friend Erin came over and I decided to see if I could make some dinner happen.  Let's just say, this was not diet food, there were no vegetables. (Erin was a bit confused and thought perhaps I was a pod person, or suffering from a fever.) It was however very good, and I have leftovers for lunch today.

I have such a list of crap to get done today, we are heading out of town for the weekend to go to Patty Creek Farm and spend a few days playing in the creek and eating too much food. I think I'm going to try to make a pear tart before we go, maybe one with gorgonzola again, cause that was really yummy. We are having breakfast a la Mutti which is to die for and usually has some sausage gravy for good measure. Lunch by the campfire (hot dogs, chips and some fruit) and then dinner a la Felix which will be foil packs. A yummy camp favorite, which combines meat, veggies, cream of mushroom soup and other whatnot in a tin foil pack that sits in the coals of a fire for awhile until everything tastes like heaven. Not a dieting weekend, to be sure.

Food and Creek, you are jealous, I know you are.

The munches are going to run themselves mad and then they will sleep like little bear cubs. They both love going to the farm and it's been about a year since the last time they were there, so they'll be on cloud nine. The great thing about this particular place is that it's in the middle of nowhere, I'm going with my family and I'm going to be wearing a swimsuit or pajamas the whole weekend, Score!

I'll see you all Monday, have a great weekend!

My Sunshine Girl

You are my sunshine,
My beautiful sunshine.
You make me happy,
When skies are gray
You'll never know dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

This is my favorite song, and I sing it to my girls all the time. Last night, Booger climbed up into my lap and said, "Mommy, I'm going to sing for you, how about the sunshime song?" So my baby sang me the sunshine song, and it made my heart feel so full that I cried big happy mommy tears. I think Booger needs a new name, I think maybe she should be Sunshine.
Yes Booger, that's where pants go.

Figgy Pudding

It's Week 11!

Two more weeks of first trimester. The baby is about the size of a fig this week. For those of you who have only ever known the word fig as it pertains to a newton, it's a nutirent rich food that is called a fruit but actually is not.

They look like geodes
Figs are high in calcium, potassium and fiber. Commercially they are available dried or in jam preparations because the fresh fruits themselves do not keep or travel well. Dried figs are rather well known here in the US and are used in baking and cooking. Oh, and they are yummy. They lend well to baked goods and desserts but are not too sweet. I'm now in the mood to make bread with figs and dates. mmmmmmmm

Sorry about my rant yesterday, I was feeling ugly and bloated. But, I'm better today. My SIL (over at Vavoom Vintage) gave me some awesome corduroy maternity pants and I'm feeling pretty cute today. I tell you what, when you are feeling sorry for yourself, there's nothing quite like a great guy who loves you to convince you otherwise (thanks Jeeves!)

So last night the munches and I watched veggie tales and Disney movies and I crocheted. I am making a blanket for the hospital for the baby and I as well as a blanket just for the baby, and a sweater and hat set. I've picked some pretty, gender neutral colors that will be good for a boy or a girl.Plus I can get the base done and add some embellishments when I find out what we are expecting.

I've gained another pound, that's about 3 now. Of course, to look at me you'd think it was way more. I'm trying to watch my intake but it's been pretty dismal. I've got to turn this around and get out of the attitude of eating whatever because I'm pregnant. Jeeves even commented about it last night, which means it's gotten out of hand. I'm easing into workouts again. It's slow going but I'm afraid to hurt myself now, so I figure slow is better than nothing. I've been walking my 5K's at the gym and doing modified ab work on the ball to avoid hurting my back.

Oh! and some big news, better posture helps with the sciatica, when I suck in my gut all day I have less pain and numbness a the end of the day. I'm going to mention this to the doc at my next appointment and ask if there is a support I can use to help my posture and hold the baby up when I get super preg.

That's all for today. I'm cooking and crocheting tonight, probably going for a walk with the munches. I'm loving the weather this week, warm and nice. Such a change from the heat wave.
